Hi purity stable isotope Ytterbium-176
For many years we have been supplying a stable isotope Ytterbium enriched with isotope Yb-176 produced by the Russian enterprise with more than 70 years of experience using a unique patented Electromagnetic Separation Method. This technology allows for isolating isotope-enriched Ytterbium-176 as highly-purified oxide meeting customers’ specifications for high-purity Ytterbium-176 to be used in radiopharmaceutical manufacturing.
Ytterbium enriched with isotope Yb-176 is used to manufacture targets for reactor irradiation. Sealed capsule of Ytterbium-176 oxide undergoes reactor irradiation for a week. The irradiation of the target with flux of neutrons results in radioactive isotope Lutetium-177 used in nuclear medicine.
In its turn, Lutetium-177 is widely used in modern medicine to manufacture radiopharmaceuticals for treatment of tumors in bone system and internal organs. These are prospective pharmaceuticals used in medicine for advanced cancer treatment methods – theranostics. Theranostics is a new approach in nuclear medicine combining diagnostic imaging and therapy for determining the efficiency of a radiopharmaceutical for a patient. Theranostics applies pharmaceuticals for both early diagnosis and therapy of cancer patients. This treatment method is new and is characterized by minimum toxicity effect on a patient’s organs as compared to the similar technologies.
